Placenta Preparation

It’s best to prepare your placenta 1-3 days after your baby is born, although preparing a placenta that has been frozen is beneficial too. I follow OSHA guidelines, as well as having been trained in food safety handling. I am knowledgeable in the benefits of placentophagy and will pass on this information to you.

Why should you have your placenta encapsulated?

The placenta is incredibly nutritious and contains many of the vitamins, minerals and hormones that a mother’s body needs to adequately recover from the pregnancy and birth. It has been shown to balance your system, replenish depleted iron, increase milk production and help you have a happier postpartum period. More specifically, placenta capsules may help to allow a quicker return to health after birth, decrease likelihood of baby blues and postpartum depression, decrease likelihood of insomnia or sleep disorders and in general, give you more energy.

You have one chance to make a print of your placenta. It will be a treasured keepsake that is worthy of framing. When birthing in a hospital inform the nurse that you will be bringing your placenta home.

Yes, I can make a print from a placenta which is currently frozen in your freezer and waiting for you to decide what to do with it!

If you encapsulate your placenta, the print will be a blood print. Otherwise I will use ink. You can bury your placenta and plant a tree above it after a print has been taken. I suggest you plant it in a large pot which can be taken with you when you move.
